Welcome to Mrs. Frishman's Class

Welcome to Second Grade!! I am so excited for this journey with your child! We will be learning and discovering so much this year. Thank you in advance for your open communication and support over the next two years.

  Mrs. Frishman

About me:

Education
I moved here to Florida from Connecticut when I was 4 years old.  I grew up in Manatee County attending local schools.  I graduated from Bayshore High School in 1988.  I moved to Alaska after high school and went to  college at the University of Alaska.  I then moved to Maine and graduated with honors from the University of Maine.  In 1999 I received my Masters Degree in Elementary Education from National Louis University. I grew up in a family of educators so I believe teaching is in my blood.

My philosophy
I believe every child is unique and that they learn in different ways.  What works for one may not work for another.  My job is to find out what works for your child and challenge them to meet their full potential.  I have always had a love for kids since I was young.  Building a relationship with each one is my passion.  All students can learn and be successful and earning their trust is the key to finding out how they can succeed.

Family
I have a husband and two children.  My daughter is attending Florida State University and My son is a sophomore in high school. We love traveling and spending time together.

Interests
My favorite things to do are read, go to the beach, travel and walk my italian greyhound Crosby.

Homework Policy:

Best effort in the area of homework includes the completion of all assignments in the agenda each night. Homework also includes filling out your book log and having your agenda and book log signed by a parent every night. Two missed signatures counts as one missing assignment. Second grade students are only allowed to miss 4 homework items total (per quarter) to be able to attend Effort Honor Roll.   This will allow for true forgetting, leaving it on the table accidentally, etc.

I encourage you to help with setting up a system at home, but also help your child build responsibility by allowing him/her to independently follow through in the completion of homework by themselves. Students are expected to read for 20 min. per night and complete a short math assignment and spelling assignment.
